Modification Mechanism and Technical Performance of Recycled PE-Modified Asphalt

چکیده

Waste plastic pollution is a serious issue. In order to adhere the concept of green development and rationally dispose polyethylene waste products, (PE)-modified asphalt was prepared using recycled (RPE) low-density (LDPE) as raw materials. The chemical structures RPE- LDPE-modified were studied Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR), dispersion RPE fluorescence microscope (FM). Subsequently, modification mechanism PE-modified revealed. physical properties high- low-temperature rheological characteristics examined property tests, dynamic shear rheometer (DSR), bending beam (BBR). creep performance analyzed multiple-stress recovery (MSCR). addition, laboratory-made inexpensive inorganic stabilizer added enhance storability asphalt. results show that PE are similarly compatible form an S-C bond with stabilizer. resulting product’s storage stability enhanced via cross linking between subsequent formation network structure. segregation softening point increased from 2 °C 45 increase in content, more obvious than LDPE. high-temperature failure 2–6% RPE-modified can reach 70 °C, while 8% 76 °C. Low-temperature reduced slightly: PE-doping temperature −14.7 somewhat reduced, but it still within PG rating.

Development of Recycled-Modified Asphalt Using Basalt Aggregate

With the strengthened regulation on the mandatory use of recycled aggregate, development of construction materials using recycled aggregate has recently increased. This study aimed to secure the performance of asphalt concrete mixture by developing recycled-modified asphalt using recycled basalt aggregate from the Jeju area. The strength of the basalt aggregate from the Jeju area used in this s...

Modification of the Properties of Warm Mix Asphalt Using Recycled Plastic Bottles

Construction of flexible pavements with hot mix asphalt (HMA) mixtures consumes huge energy which impacts the resources and the environment of the world. Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) is an effective alternative as they produced with lower mixing and compaction temperature than those used in HMA production. This technology decreases energy consumption, saves money, and reducing the environmental pollu...

Performance of Recycled Asphalt Shingles in Hot Mix Asphalt: TPF-5(213)

US transportation agencies have been increasingly using recycled asphalt shingles (RAS) in hot mix asphalt (HMA) applications over the last 25 years. Initial use of RAS started with recycled postmanufacturers shingles, but now agencies are showing a growing interest in using post-consumer (tear-off) RAS in asphalt applications. Post-consumer asphalt shingles typically have 20 to 30 percent asph...
